- The microphone is used to compute a sound level, live, on the iPhone. The sound is forgotten right away.
- No account, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking, no third-party SDK.
- Settings and the session history stay on the iPhone.
- Payment is processed by Apple; we never see your payment details.
1. Who we are
The Colimo app and this website are published by Helby Studio, a French simplified joint-stock company (SASU) registered in Paris under number 928 684 323, 61 rue de Lyon, 75012 Paris, France. Helby Studio is the controller of the processing described below.
This policy covers the app on iPhone, downloaded from the App Store, and this website. Questions about your data: colimo@helby.studio.
2. An app for families
Colimo is used as a family, at the table: parents start a session and set the app up. We do not knowingly collect any personal information, from children or from adults. The app contains no advertising, no analytics, no social media links, and does not use the device’s advertising identifier. Finishing a session, the parents’ space, purchases and every external link are protected by a question young children cannot answer.
3. The microphone
To know whether the table is calm, Colimo needs the iPhone’s microphone. It asks for it at first launch, after explaining why, and only uses it in two cases:
- during a session, from the moment you start it until you finish it;
- while trying the sensitivities in the parents’ space, when a grown-up taps “Try with the room’s noise”, for one minute at most.
Sound is never recorded, stored or sent. Ten times a second, live on the iPhone, the app computes a single number: the room’s sound level. The sound itself is forgotten right away; no audio file is created, and no speech is analysed or recognised.
A session keeps listening when the app goes to the background or the iPhone is locked, until you finish it. iOS shows this with the orange dot at the top of the screen (or in the Dynamic Island) while the microphone is in use; on the app’s home screen, the microphone is off. You can remove microphone access at any time in Settings › Colimo › Microphone.
4. Data that stays on the iPhone
Settings (sensitivity, delay before the reminder, reminder sound and volume, chosen garden) and the session history are stored only on the iPhone, in the app. For each session, the history keeps the date, the duration, the garden, the number of flowers and reminders, and the background noise level measured at the start (a number). This data is never sent to Helby Studio or anyone else. You can delete the history from the parents’ space; deleting the app erases everything.
If you have turned on iCloud Backup for your iPhone, this data may be included, like that of your other apps. That backup is run by Apple, in your account and under your settings; Helby Studio has no access to it.
5. Notifications, Live Activity and calls
- Notifications: if you allow them (you are asked at the first “Start”), Colimo can let you know when a session paused while the app was closed, for instance when another app took the microphone. These are local notifications, created by the iPhone itself: nothing goes through a server.
- Live Activity: during a session, the Lock Screen and the Dynamic Island show that Colimo is listening to the table, with the elapsed time. It is displayed by iOS, on the iPhone, and shows no sound level.
- Calls: so as not to notify you in the middle of a conversation, the app checks locally whether a call is in progress. It has no access to the number, your contacts or the content of the call.
6. The purchase
The Whole Garden in-app purchase is sold and charged by Apple, through the App Store, under Apple’s own privacy policy. Helby Studio never has access to your payment details or your Apple Account. The app checks the purchase directly with the App Store, on the device, through Apple’s purchase system.
The app sends no purchase data to Helby Studio or any other service. Like every publisher, Helby Studio receives sales reports from Apple (for example date, product, price and country), which it only uses for its accounts.
7. No data collected
The app collects no data and embeds no third-party SDK. It never connects to Helby Studio or any other service: only the purchase and its restoration go through Apple’s App Store. Pictures and sounds are bundled in the app, which works offline. So no data is ever sold, rented or shared. Colimo does not access location, the camera, contacts or photos.
If you allowed it in your iPhone’s settings, Apple may provide developers with crash reports and aggregated technical statistics. They contain no sound and no session data, and are only used to fix problems.
8. If you write to us
When you email colimo@helby.studio, we use your email address and your message only to answer you, based on our legitimate interest in handling your requests. We keep them as long as your request needs following up, and at most three years after our last exchange. There is no need to tell us anything about your children.
9. This website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party fonts or scripts, and stores nothing in your browser. Our hosting provider (Railway Corporation) may keep technical logs (IP address, date, requested page, browser) for security and reliability, for a limited time. The demo runs entirely in your browser: it does not use the microphone (a slider simulates the noise) and stores nothing.
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, object and port your data. As Helby Studio holds no data that identifies you (apart from any messages you send us), most of these rights are exercised directly on the iPhone (deleting the history or the app). For any question, email colimo@helby.studio; we answer within one month. You may also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).
11. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with its date, and significant changes will be announced in the app.
